JERSEY CITY - Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop officiated a same-sex wedding on the waterfront at the end of Montgomery Street today.

Meredith Greenberg and Leora Pearlman were married on the J. Owen Grundy pier. Unlike other weddings that were held just after midnight, this one took place with the knowledge that Gov. Chris Christie had withdrawn his appeal against same-sex marriage with the state Supreme Court.

Fulop presided over several early morning weddings. Similar ceremonies took place in Newark, Asbury Park and Lambertville as well.
