JERSEY CITY - Jersey City Mayor-elect Steve Fulop took part in a high-flying fundraiser Friday, rappelling down a 34-story building to promote the American Cancer Society's "Over the Edge" event.

The mayor-elect says he's terrified of heights, but was willing to take the plunge down the side of a building at Harborside Financial Center for the charity. "I kept asking them, 'Are you sure I'm strapped in? Are you sure I'm strapped in?' But it’s for a good cause, so we're happy to support it," Fulop says.

Fulop scaled the building Friday with other executives and sports team mascots.

The American Cancer Society's rappelling event will be held Saturday.
