JERSEY CITY - A Jersey City man accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend, her friend and his infant son appeared in court today via a video feed to hear the upgraded charges against him.

Frederico Bruno, 21, had been charged with assault, but prosecutors upgraded the charges today to include attempted murder, child abuse and tampering with evidence. Bail was also set at $300,000.

Bruno allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend and her friend, Madeline Calderone, repeatedly. Prosecutors say he then allegedly shoved his ex-girlfriend into a window air conditioner with enough force that she and their son fell three stories. The mother and baby are both listed in critical condition, and doctors say Calderone could be released from the hospital soon.
