JERSEY CITY - Thousands of New Jerseyans flocked to Hudson County this Independence Day to participate in the third annual “Freedom & Fireworks Festival" at Liberty State Park in Jersey City.

The large celebration featured rides, barbecue food and a concert by the Village People. The night was capped off by the largest fireworks show in New Jersey.

"It is family oriented and they’ve got everything that you could want here,” says Jersey City resident Hakimah Tradwell. “My family is here with me and that’s what I like to enjoy.”

More than 100,000 people were expected to attend the festivities.

The fireworks show went on despite some wet weather. Several other towns in New Jersey had to cancel their fireworks displays due to rain.
