JERSEY CITY - While many observed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day at rallies or services, others spent their day off by heading to work. As Stacey Rapp explained to News 12 New Jersey, many honored Dr. King by taking part in a 'day on' of national service.

Rapp helped to repaint a school in Jersey City and was one of nearly two thousand people who donated their time on the third annual MLK Day of Service in Jersey City.

The event in Jersey City was organized by Jersey Cares, a group that provides volunteer services year-round.
