NORTH CALDWELL - A North Caldwell man has died after his canoe capsized Saturday afternoon off the coast of Milford, Conn., officials say.

Two people were inside the boat when it overturned on the Long Island Sound near Charles Island at around 2 p.m.

Coast Guard responders were able to find one of the boaters quickly and brought her back to shore. The other, 24-year-old Jeffery Young, did not have a pulse when crews found him.

Young was taken to Milford hospital, where he later died.

Officials say the boaters were not wearing life preservers.
