FREEHOLD - A man accused of plotting to murder the Ocean County assistant prosecutor assigned to his case has been found guilty.

Jay Goldberg, 64, was convicted in 2012 for the aggravated manslaughter of his neighbor back in 2009.

Goldberg is already serving a 20-year sentence for the aggravated manslaughter. Today, the jury found him guilty of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

A few months after his initial conviction and while he was awaiting sentencing, prosecutors say Goldberg solicited an inmate in the Ocean County jail to murder Supervising Ocean County Prosecutor Steven Cucci.

An undercover detective later recorded incriminating conversations with Goldberg.
