WARREN - The Assembly Appropriations Committee heard testimony today about Janet's Law, a bill that would require AEDs or automated external defibrillators in schools.

The bill is being pushed through by Assemblyman Jon Bramnick and the family of Janet Zilinski, an 11-year-old who died of sudden cardiac arrest while at cheerleading practice in 2006. Janet's parents, Karen and Jim, testified today.

Bramnick says it has taken years to get the bill to this point and he hopes it moves through without a problem.

The bill most recently passed the Senate Education Committee. Tomorrow would have been the Warren native's 17th birthday.
