TRENTON - Police are investigating after they say a man was fatally shot in Trenton last night.

Authorities say 26-year-old Jafar Lewis was shot near Brunswick Avenue and Old Rose Street at around 10 p.m. last night.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The city's total number of homicides this year is now 31, which ties the 2005 record for highest number of homicides in Trenton.
