ISELIN - A Middlesex County baby sitter is charged in connection with the death of a 6-month-old boy she was watching.

Marianne McIntire-Caulfield, 62, of the Iselin section of Woodbridge, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Investigators say that on Dec. 1, McIntire-Caulfield was baby-sitting as many as eight infants in her home, when she noticed that the baby, William Vidaurre, was “in distress.” She called police and the baby was taken to John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, where he was pronounced dead.

The child’s cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.

Law enforcement officials say that McIntire-Caulfield’s home had unsanitary conditions.

McIntire-Caulfield’s bail was set at $100,000.
