LINDEN - Investigators have opened a probe into the small plane crash that happened near the Linden Airport yesterday, killing one person and injuring another.

The NTSB says the small plane plummeted to the ground shortly after taking off from Linden Airport yesterday afternoon. It crash-landed in a lot at a former GM plant just west of the airport.

Flight instructor Craig MacCullum, who was piloting the plane, was killed. His 19-year-old student remains hospitalized in critical condition at University Hospital in Newark.

The NTSB is investigating the crash to determine the cause.
