IRVINGTON - An infant named Madison is on a respirator at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Hospital (UMDNJ), while two Irvington teenagers have been arrested in connection with the assault that nearly cost the 11-month-old girl her life.

Police say the child's mother, Crystal Spearman, 19, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Her 15-year-old boyfriend is charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Family members say the two were in a room with the baby when an argument broke out.

Family members say Spearman then ran out of the room and told them to call 911 because her daughter was injured. They say Madison suffered a fractured arm and leg, as well as damage to her head and internal organs.

A woman who identified herself as the child's grandmother spoke exclusively to News 12 New Jersey and says the child is on life support while doctors try to find recipients for her organs.
