EDISON - Authorities are urging drivers to take it slow on New Jersey's roads as a winter storm moves through the area overnight and into Monday.

The wintry weather is affecting drivers around the state and the National Weather Service says to expect freezing rain in some areas during the Monday morning commute.

The Toms River Police Department says it had more than 20 reported accidents after the snow began falling at around 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Nearly 8 inches of snow fell in some areas of Toms River, while other areas of New Jersey saw nothing but a dusting.

New Jersey Transit officials say they will cross honor its tickets system wide through the end of the day tomorrow.
