The "Ice Bucket Challenge" is to raise awareness and money for ALS Disease research.

EDISON - The "Ice Bucket Challenge" has gone viral across social media sites and News 12 New Jersey staff is getting in on the cause.

The rules for the challenge are you must pour water over your head and then "call out" friends and family to do the same, or donate $100 to ALS research.

It all started with former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates and another patient named Patt Quinn, both whom have ALS.

The viral sensation even has its own hashtag, #IceBucketChallenge.
