Husband accused of murdering wife appears in court

FREEHOLD - The husband accused of killing his wife in the Lincroft section of Middletown appeared in court today, where chilling new details emerged about the murder. Authorities say that Patrick Allen, 44, killed Kimberly Allen, a mother of two, last week.

During the proceeding, the prosecutor said Allen asphyxiated his wife and struck her in the head with a blunt object. The prosecutor said he killed his wife of 20 years after a dispute over finances. Allen's defense attorney said his client left the home Friday and returned home to find his wife dead. It was also revealed in court that Allen was the person who called 911.
