ASBURY PARK - Hundreds of people took a dip in the Atlantic Ocean on a frigid New Year's Day, and they did it for a good cause.

The Jersey Shore participants braved 40 degree waters in the 11th Annual Polar Bear Plunge in Asbury Park. The event is organized each year by the Sons of Ireland.

"It was wonderful," says Denise Geary of Oakhurst. "I was a little nervous, I didn't know what to expect, I thought I might have a heart attack."

The money raised will go to several charitable organizations in Monmouth County.
