TRENTON - Hundreds of evacuees from the shore arrived in Trenton in bus loads overnight as the first winds from Hurricane Irene arrived Saturday.

Mandatory evacuations are in effect for all of Cape May County, Long Beach Island and coastal communities in Atlantic and Ocean counties.

The state is busing people in from shore communities to the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton. Evacuees will then be moved to smaller shelters farther north.
