EDISON - Cold and flu season is here, and Time Magazine has a list of tips to stay healthy.

The Center for Disease Control recommends getting a flu shot. It says there is also evidence that certain foods, such as yogurt and shiitake mushrooms, have immune-boosting powers. Other home remedies like chicken soup and honey have also proven effective.

Breathing fresh air can also help. Opening windows keeps airborne particles circulating, while a humidifier can help get rid of dry air that can aggravate a sore throat or cough.

Not touching one's mouth is another way to keep germs out.

If one does get sick, consuming fluids and resting is the best way to heal.
