WOODLAND PARK - Five residents were displaced after their Woodland Park home was destroyed by fire Monday.

Several fire crews responded to the blaze on Jackson Avenue shortly before 3 p.m.

One firefighter suffered from exhaustion, but no other injuries were reported.

Firefighters from Woodland Park, Totowa and Little Falls assisted at the scene.

Mayor Keith Kazmark said up to 40 volunteers helped to shovel snow that had piled up against borough fire hydrants, clearing the way for fire crews to access the water that was needed Monday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but residents believe it started in the basement of the home.
