HOBOKEN - Patients and employees at the Hoboken University Medical Center are awaiting the installation of a new air conditioner unit, on a day when temperatures outside are reaching up to 90 degrees this afternoon.

One of the hospital's two central air units has been under repair for the past two weeks, and the hospital has been functioning without it.

In lieu of the second air conditioner, window units have been installed in some rooms, and families visiting patients are bringing in fans. Hospital employees said the temperature in some of the rooms has reached into the low 80s.

The new air conditioner at the hospital is being installed as the result of a grant from PSE&G. The hospital's public information officer said the air conditioning unit should be installed by early this afternoon, with the unit running at full force by this evening.
