BELMAR - New Jersey State Police say that homeland security has been beefed up to secure state waterways this holiday.

Officials say that due to heavy boat traffic for the Fourth of July, they have increased security on bridges, tunnels, refineries and power plants.

State police are asking for boaters to follow the law, so that resources are not tied up.

Residents are being urged to call police at 609-882-2000 to report any suspicious activity.
