NEW BRUNSWICK - A homeowner’s security system led to the arrest of the man who reportedly broke into her New Brunswick home.

The resident tells News 12 New Jersey that her home alarm was triggered while she was not at home.

The burglar supposedly broke into the home through a back window, ripped the alarm off the wall and also kicked in the bedroom door.

The homeowner received an alert that the alarm went off and called police. When police showed up, they found Guillerma Peralta, 32, inside the upstairs bedroom.

The resident believes Peralta was going for a safe in her closet. Peralta was charged with burglary.
