Home health care worker accused of stealing from elderly woman

SOUTH BRUNSWICK - A home health care worker has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars from an elderly woman and her disabled daughter.

The worker, Lynn Bergacs, was responsible for caring for an 88-year-old woman and her 55-year-old daughter with cerebral palsy. South Brunswick police say Bergacs betrayed the women by siphoning hundreds of thousands of dollars via stolen checks. Police say their investigation started last December.

The victims are not being identified. Police say they found checks and bank statements inside Bergacs' home. She was arrested and charged with theft and forgery.
