Middle school students in Holmdel are sickened after drinking 'Marley's Mellow Mood'

HOLMDEL - Several students in Holmdel were sickened from drinking a 'mood-altering' beverage that was being sold at their school.

Several students at Satz Middle School got sick on Friday after drinking 'Marley's Mellow Mood.' Students complained of feeling nauseous and lethargic from the drink.

'Marley's Mellow Mood' contains passion flower, chamomile and hops.

School administrators tell News 12 New Jersey that they've removed the drink and that managers at Chartwells Food Service, the company who administers the school food program, did not use the proper approval process before offering the drink for sale.

Chartwells claims that the drink was not authorized for sale in Holmdel schools and that an on-site manager has been removed pending a further investigation.
