High gas prices keep boats close to the shore

BRIELLE - Boaters are getting their vessels ready for the summer this week at the Brielle Yacht club. Some boaters say that because of gas prices, the only place their boat will go is the dock.

When Danny Glynn bought his boat in 2003, gas was only $1.10. Now the price in New Jersey is $3.79. Glynn says today's prices take the fun out of boating.

Even though Glynn's boat is designed for the high seas, taking his boat just a few miles offshore could cost him thousands.

Many of the marinas are even doing upgrades and putting in swimming pools for the stay-on-shore crowd.
