Family friend Saeed Mohammad explained that while waiting to eat, Choudhry's older brother went out on the front steps along Mallory Avenue.
The brother was approached by at least two men and robbed of his phone. When his brother called for help, Choudhry chased the thieves around the corner and up Virginia Avenue. Just as he was closing in, the suspect turned and fired.
Amun'Tehu has been charged with felony murder and robbery. His bail was set at $250,000 cash or bond.
The family, who emigrated from Pakistan, says Choudhry had just graduated from Ferris High School. According to the family, he was an avid cricket player, devout to his religion, and preparing to go to college.
