TRENTON - Heavy rain and high winds move across the state tonight as remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole travel along the Atlantic coast.

Click "NEXT" for News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist Dave Curren explaining today's storm.

A flood watch remains in effect for the entire state until Friday afternoon. A high surf and coastal flood advisory is in effect along the Jersey Shore. High wind warnings are also in place for northern parts of the state.

News 12 New Jersey meteorologist Michele Powers says 3-5 inches of rain could fall in most parts of the state creating the potential for street and small stream flooding.

Powers says wind gusts of up to 50 mph are possible during the middle of the day that could down tree limbs and utility lines.
