NEWARK - Health transplant survivors at Newark Beth Israel Hospital spent their morning inspiring patients on the waiting list for hearts of their own.
The survivors donned red shirts and spoke of their experiences while waiting for the life-saving procedure.
One survivor said he hopes his words give current patients the hope to keep believing for a new heart so that they too can join the ranks of the survivors.
Physicians at Beth Israel say there are 116,000 patients nationwide waiting for a heart. Of those, 6,000 patients are in New Jersey.
