Hearing held on Gov. Christie's use of state police helicopter

Democrats were looking for answers from Col. Rick Fuentes, superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, at a hearing on the use of state police

TRENTON - Democrats were looking for answers from Col. Rick Fuentes, superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, at a hearing on the use of state police helicopters.

The hearing comes after Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) took a state police helicopter to his son's baseball game, as well as a meeting with political donors.

Lawmakers in the Assembly tried to get a better look at how and when the governor can use any of the state's 10 helicopters. In the hearing, Democrats tried to pin down Fuentes on whether executive trips like the one last month should be more tightly regulated.

Republicans blasted the hearings as a waste of time, accusing Democrats of trying to stir up political trouble for the governor.
