SAYREVILLE - A hazmat team had to be called in after a dump truck and tanker truck collided in Middlesex County.
All lanes on Route 9 South in Sayreville had to be shut down near Bordentown Avenue after the crash around 12 p.m. Friday. Witnesses tell News 12 New Jersey that the dump truck hit the tanker as the tanker tried to make a turn.
“When I spun around, I see the gas truck try to turn into the gas station,” says witness Wesley Rucker. “The other runs into the back of it. The truck bounced off of the divider. It was loud. It was pretty crazy.”
The tanker truck leaked hundreds of gallons of fuel, which the hazmat team had to clean up.
Officials have not said if anyone was hurt.
