Hackensack man accused of shoplifting, spying on women

HACKENSACK - Police say they have arrested a man at a Sears store in Hackensack for shoplifting and videotaping women.

Investigators say they were called to the Sears at around 7 p.m. Thursday after a store security guard caught Christian Crews, 31, of Hackensack, stealing a pair of utility gloves. They say Crews had a video camera hidden inside a shopping bag and that the security guard noticed him following several women throughout the store.

Crews was arrested for shoplifting, but during his processing, police say they found the camera exposing more than 50 different women. He has also been charged with invasion of privacy, with additional charges forthcoming.

Crews is currently being held at Bergen County Jail.
