The Senate Education Committee moved forward with plans to raise awareness about the dangers of brain injuries in high school athletes.
Niki Popyer is a former high school athlete suffering from concussion-related symptoms. She hopes the law, which requires schools to develop plans to treat athletes with concussions, will save kids from the headaches, dizziness and depression she deals with on a daily basis.
Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein's committee moved three bills that would provide resources to victims of abuse. Assemblyman Patrick Diegnan also held a hearing to study the impact school construction delays are having on education and the economy.
