JACKSON TOWNSHIP - Officials believe a gustnado damaged two homes Monday as thunderstorms moved across New Jersey.

The storm packing winds up to 60 mph struck at around 5:10 p.m. on Vath Street in Jackson Township.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist James Gregorio says gustnadoes typically form in the outflow boundaries of thunderstorms. They do not connect with any cloud rotation and are not classified as tornadoes. But, they can cause damage similar to that of a weak tornado.
