TRENTON - A state-sponsored gun buyback program is continuing today in Mercer County.

The program began yesterday in Trenton, where prosecutors say more than 1,000 guns were collected by 5 p.m.

Officials are collecting weapons at the Greater Mount Zion AME Church on Pennington Avenue and the Pentecostal Assembly of God on North Clinton Avenue. Up to $250 in cash will be offered for each gun dropped off.

The buyback event runs today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
