Greenwood Lake marinas hope for busy July Fourth holiday weekend
WEST MILFORD - While many New Jersey residents will flock to the Shore this holiday weekend, North Jersey marinas hope they also make a bee line to the lakes.
You can go wake boarding in the ocean, but some locals say it's better on a lake. "It's a lot quieter and more peaceful," says Katie Mauer. "There are mountains and trees around here."
Marinas on Greenwood Lake hope it's not too quiet over the Fourth of July weekend. "This is a big weekend for us and it's looking like it's going to be really good," says Matt Russo, of South Shore Marina. They have rented out most of the boats for the weekend, and boat sales are up.

"Tourism has been great," says Russo. "It's a great place to come. Greenwood Lake is still a well-kept secret. Probably not for long. We're seeing more and more people choose to vacation up here and spend their weekends up here."
People who live in northern New Jersey say the lake is more convenient than the Jersey Shore. Tom and Paula Viccaro, of Wayne, say it's easier to park, there's less traffic and a great ride.
Locals say it takes about an hour to cruise from the southern end of Greenwood Lake to the northern end. Greenwood Lake has fireworks scheduled for Saturday night.
