POINT PLEASANT - If you ask residents what the best time is to be down at the Jersey Shore, they will likely tell you right now.
The "shoulder season," as it's known, is the period between the peak and low seasons, and it has many advantages.
It's free to bask in the sun on the beach and the boardwalk isn't as crowded. Traffic is clear on the parkway and vacationers can get deals at rentals and motels that were nowhere to be found a week ago.
However, those who venture into the waves, are on their own, as there are no lifeguards on duty.
Management at area motels say the prices will continue to plummet as it gets colder.
