JERSEY CITY - Authorities have accused a grandson of stabbing his grandfather to death in Jersey City.

Police responded to the second-floor Sherman Avenue apartment that 27-year-old John Ugarriza shared with his 73-year-old grandfather, Jesus Ruiz, just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was stabbed multiple times with a knife.

Neighbors were stunned to learn that Ruiz's grandson is now charged with his murder. "He was a man of God," says Walter Dubis. "He didn't deserve this."

Dubis says Ruiz never mentioned any problems with his grandson.

Ugarriza is held on $250,000 bail, charged with murder and weapons charges.
