MILLBURN - A graffiti artist was arrested, but not before he was able to send a clear message in Millburn.

Police say they picked up 22-year-old Andrew Dawes as he was leaving the scene of one of his alleged crimes. They say he is believed to have sprayed the words "Get Real Rev" in at least five locations.

Authorities aren't commenting on the content's meaning, but many in the community spoke to News 12 New Jersey about who they believe the message is directed at.

Many residents say they're certain the messages refer to Reverend Darryl George, who is involved in a legal battle with the Millburn Board of Education over a 2009 incident in which he was accused of beating a student on high school property.

Police say Dawes has been charged with criminal mischief.
