SOMERSET - Gov. Chris Christie was asked very directly if he would support a same-sex marriage referendum at a town hall meeting today in Somerset.
"I said throughout the campaign that I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman," said Christie. "I have told the Legislature that I would be happy to put the issue to a vote, and, as governor, I would be bound to whatever the vote was."
The question was to be expected one day after President Barack Obama declared his support for same-sex marriage.
