JERSEY CITY - Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) toured a Jersey City school today after parents went straight to him with their overcrowding concerns. PTA members believed he would build a new school if he saw the conditions at P.S. 20 in the Greenville section of the city. They say the school is so overcrowded that closets are being used as classrooms. When Christie took office, he put the brakes on funding for most new schools around the state, until the projects could be reviewed by his administration.
Reporters were not allowed inside the school during the governor's tour.
