Gov. Christie promises improvements to Camden schools, more opportunities for students

Gov. Chris Christie promised Camden parents and students that he will improve and expand education opportunities in the city. (6/9/14)

CAMDEN - Gov. Chris Christie promised Camden parents and students that he will improve and expand education opportunities in the city. 

Christie spent the day speaking with students and residents, and supporting the Camden Promise Program.

Through a partnership with more than 15 organizations, the Promise Program offers a range of services from tutoring to job counseling and family support.

Christie says the initiative helps bolster every child's opportunity to succeed. "I've always believed that as a leader in government, it is our responsibility to provide every child in the state with the ability for them to reach their highest potential," Christie says. "No matter where you live in New Jersey, no matter what your zip code is, that should not be something that precludes you from being able to reach that God-given potential."

Christie promised continued efforts not only on the education front - but also in jobs and public safety.
