Gov. Christie makes 2nd go at Jersey shore visits

BELMAR - (AP) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is makinganother go at a visit to the Jersey shore.

Christie planned to make the first of three beach and boardwalkvisits Tuesday in Ocean City, but afternoon storms led him tocancel.

The governor will try again Wednesday in Belmar. The Ocean Cityvisit will be rescheduled.

In Belmar, Christie will tout his administration's commitment toprotecting the state's beaches and waterways.

He will also take a walk on the beach or boardwalk.

Last week, Christie approved $650 million in no-cost andlow-cost loans for water quality and protection projects. Some $450million are for projects that clean up water used for fishing andswimming. The rest is for projects that protect drinking watersupplies.
