WEST MILFORD - Gov. Chris Christie hosted his 97th town hall meeting today in rural West Milford.
The main topic at issue during the meeting was the New Jersey Highlands Act. The measure protects drinking water in the state by limiting development, and thus, tax revenue upstate.
Many business owners in West Milford say they're shouldering too much of the tax burden.
Christie insists that the state's previous Democratic leadership is to blame for not living up to their promises.
The governor said he would assign people to the 15-member Highlands Council which will look into the issue.
Tomorrow, the governor is scheduled to be in Wisconsin and Indiana to campaign for Republican candidates for Senate and governor.
