MARLTON - Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) is pushing back against Democrats, who call his town hall meetings a waste of time.

During the town hall meeting today, Christie complained about what he says Democrats are going to do, highlighting a bill stuck in an Assembly committee in particular.

He went into detail about the bill at the town hall, saying "It would increase the gas tax by 228 percent over the next three years. It would increase the gas tax by 24 cents a gallon over the next three years."

Democrats say it is much ado about nothing, as the bill was introduced a year ago, and isn't going anywhere. A spokesman for Democrats in the state Senate sent News 12 New Jersey a statement that said, "We're working out solutions on pensions and health benefits while the governor is railing against something that isn't even under discussion."

The governor also discussed his property tax "tool kit" at the town hall meeting.

The governor is scheduled to participate in a discussion at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. tomorrow.
