NEWARK - Gov. Chris Christie faced a wide range of questions at a news conference today in Newark.
The governor said his less pleasant side is "waiting in the wings" over Sandy recovery. The state is waiting on the gridlocked Congress to agree on sending $60 billion to New Jersey and New York for Sandy recovery.
Christie says the state is in trouble if Congress fails to reach a deal on Sandy aid, but also mentioned he's optimistic there will be an agreement.
The governor was also asked about today's moment of silence in honor of the victims of the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Christie said he hopes people used the time not just to honor the victims, but to think about gun violence and erasing the stigma surrounding mental illness.
New Jersey joined Connecticut in honoring the victims with a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. - exactly one week after the tragedy.
