Gov. Christie backs Romney for GOP presidential nod

HANOVER, N.H. - Mitt Romney got a big-time vote of confidence today from Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) as he endorsed the former governor of Massachusetts in the presidential race.

Christie's public statements most closely align with Romney, placing him in a more moderate position in comparison to Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas) and businessman Herman Cain.

While on tour last month in Lambertville, Christie was asked if he agreed with Romney or Perry more on Social Security and seemed to clearly side with Romney.

Back in 2009, Romney gave his endorsement to then-U.S. Attorney Christie, when he ran against former Gov. Jon Corzine (D-N.J.).
