WASHINGTON, D.C. - Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) and his wife attended last night's state dinner for Chinese President Hu Jintao at the White House. Christie was one of only a handful of Republicans to make an appearance at the dinner. He said an international event like this transcends American politics."It doesn't matter whether you are a Republican or Democrat tonight, you are an American tonight," he said. "We are honored to be here."Responding to a reporter's question about the absence of other GOP members, the governor said being there makes him "unique once again."Christie was joined by actors like Barbra Streisand and Jackie Chan, and figure skater Michelle Kwan.
