BARNEGAT - Gov. Chris Christie has approved $650 million in low-cost and no-cost loans for water quality and protection projects throughout New Jersey.

Christie signed the bipartisan legislation yesterday overlooking the Barnegat Bay. It will make $400 million available for projects that clean up water used for fishing and swimming. Another $250 million will be available for drinking water projects.

The money comes from New Jersey's Environmental Infrastructure Trust program. The state and federal governments will share the cost.
