KEARNY - Gov. Chris Christie joined former Gov. Jim McGreevey at the Hudson County Jail today to show his support for McGreevey's Integrity House program.
Almost two dozen female inmates are participating in the federally funded program, aimed at addressing the problems that keep inmates returning to jail such as drug addiction and unemployment.
McGreevey says three out of four women in the program never return to jail.
Gov. Christie pointed out that the plan makes sense for financial reasons too because a year of treatment costs the state less than half of a year of incarceration.
