TRENTON - Gov. Chris Christie used his first news conference of the new year to endorse a candidate for U.S. Congress.

Christie expressed support for Rep. Frank LoBiondo at the State House Monday.

LoBiondo, a Republican from South Jersey, is seeking an 11th term in Congress.

Christie called him the hardest working member of the delegation, and credited him with helping the state get federal aid for Sandy recovery.

"It is pretty obvious if you spend any time with the congressman, he loves this job, and he does it extraordinarily well," Christie says.

At least one Democrat is challenging LoBiondo, attorney Bill Hughes Jr.
